Renewed passport with a 18 month gap

Hi all,

I'm applying for naturalisation and I am a bit confused about my situation.
My passport expired on 14/11/14 and I didn't bother renewing it until 20/7/16. I was not issued a new passport but a stamp that said " passport extended for 2 years from 20/7/16"

So I only have 1 passport that is valid until 2019 that has a 18 month gap? I'm not European so I can not leave the U.K. With out my passport.

Will this be an issue when trying to prove residency?

I believe you will need to provide alternate proof of residence. I had small gap in passports and was advised to provide alternate proof of residence by NCS.

But there is no gap in op's passport as the renewal stamp is in last issued passport. They would not have stamped it on previous passport if they had issued another passport.

That is a good point. I'm thinking of adding a cover letter mentioning this!
