Hi guys,

Quick question regarding my application for naturalization.

-I am German citizen, living in the UK for over 6 years - received my Permanent Residence Certificate in December 2016 (but free from immigration for over 12m)
-I passed the Life in the UK test in December 2016

Do I still need to provide additional Evidence of knowledge of language or can I just tick "I met the knowledge of language and life requirement to qualify for settlement on or after 28th October 2013" in the application?

Thank you

You need LIUK pass test letter AND you need to meet the English requirement. They are two separate requirements. No you cannot tick that option as you did not use English for settlement as you applied for PR on the EU route and not ILR on the UK immigration route.

You need English B1 from an HO approved test provider OR a UK Degree OR a UKVI route NARIC if you have a foreign degree.

Thank you for the rapid answer. Okay, makes sense. What if my entire degree was taught in English (and I wrote my thesis in English as well) but in Germany. Would that work?

https://www.gov.uk/english-language/degrees-in-english says:
If your degree was taught or researched in English -
an original and official certificate from your university confirming the degree was taught or researched in a majority English-speaking country (except Canada)

I have that certificate but the degree was taught and researched in Germany (but both entirely in English)

Thank you!

You still need the red route UK NARIC ELA assessment. Germany is not a majority English country.

Both the English test and NARIC cost the same. English test is quicker.
