Hello

I have been granted 5 years leave to remain as a refugee. After the expiry, I applied for the indefinite leave to remain (Refugee Settlement) and I got it few days ago.

I am married to a British women since June 2012. I have passed the life in the UK test and the English test.

Can I apply for the British citizenship NOW as my wife is British (and I have a son) no need to wait

OR

Do I need to wait for one year (12 months) then apply for the British Citizenship?

Please advice

Regards,

You can apply for naturalisation immediately, section 6(2) British Nationality Act. Only those not married to a Britcit have to wait for 12 months. Good luck.

I am in the same position as you.

Did you apply for the British Nationality under your spouse?

Please let me know. This will boost my confidence.

Thank you

Kind regards,
