Dear Forum,

My partner has just been issued with ILR via 10 years Long resident route this week. I am a british and we have been married for more than 8 years now. I became British since early 2014 myself.

The question is can my partner apply for naturalisation straightway as a spouse of a British person or do we need to wait for 1 year after ILR?

I want to know as I am looking to book National Checking Service at a Council and do not want to be embarrassed at appointment.

Regards,

fato

Yes, provided your spouse meets all the requirements, including being physically present in the UK 3 years ago on the date spouse submits at NCS and is within the absence limits.

Thank you CR001. We have been living together in UK since we married 8 years ago and has not travel out of UK in that time.

Sounds like your spouse is good to go then. Good luck
