Registration of child to become British citizen

Hello

My husband is on Tier 2 general visa and I , his wife, and our 2 year old son are on dependent visas which are valid till October 2017.
My husband and me intend to apply for ILR this month as we are now eligible.
As my son was born in UK in 2015, we are directly applying to register him to become a British Citizen. However, it shows on your website that waiting times can be upto 6 months for the decision.
Can he meanwhile travel in and out of UK while waiting for decision? His current visa will expire in October 2017 so can he still enter the UK after this while he is still waiting for the decision regarding his British citizenship?

Many thanks

He can travel out but if he does not have a valid visa, he won't be able to re-enter the UK or perhaps even board a flight.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

I thought this would be the case. So traveling is out of question.

Will staying in UK after expiry of his current visa but awaiting the citizenship decision be allowed?
