Hi

I am a Greek citizen and I am employed full time in the UK since October 2010 with the same employer. My wife (also Greek) moved in the UK in September 2012 and we were married in August 2015. My son was born in January 2016 in the UK. I obtained the permanent residency ID last month which states that I am a permanent resident since October 2015. I would be grateful if you could help me with the following questions?

a) Is my son automatically a British citizen?
b) If yes, when applying for his passport, is it enough to provide my permanent residence documentation as evidence that I have been settled in the UK for 5 years before he was born or do I need again to provide P60s, letter from employer and other evidence from HMRC?
c) If I and my son both are/become British Citizens is it more straightforward for my wife to acquire the citizenship too?

Thank you

Yes as he was born AFTER you attained PR.

Should be fine by HMPO can ask for documents to prove your were settled/exercising treaty rights at that time etc.
c) If I and my son both are/become British Citizens is it more straightforward for my wife to acquire the citizenship too?
No unfortunately not, there is no 'shortcut'. She still requires 5 years residence and PR plus 1 year before she can apply for citizenship (the one on PR falls away if you are British at that point).

Sorry just another quick question.

My wife was working from September 2012 to November 2015 in the UK and since then she still lives in the UK, but she is unemployed as she is focusing on raising our son. Does she qualify for permanent residency? She is also Greek.

Thank you

Yes. Her 5 qualifying years are made up of:

worker: Sep 2012 - Nov 2015
family member: Aug 2015 - present.

(As I don't have exact dates, she may have to wait a few more days.)
