I am preparing my submission of form UKM. Like most American adults, I was likely affected by the large Equifax credit reporting agency hack , and so I have frozen my credit reports. I'm wondering if the HO will require access to the reports in order to process my application.

There are more credit reference agencies operating than the one you subscribe to - and we don't know what "credit checks" the UKVI does carry out. They will certainly be able to check up on you in some way.
