Am a Gambia citizen I came to the uk 14 year ago in 2003 when I was 8. I have just recent been able to save money to naturalise into a British citizen. But so far there is a complications my first name on my passport which is "Jacquelling" and the name of my entry clearance "Jacquelline" don't match so am worried if I apply my citizenship application might get rejected

My actual name is Jacqueline so 2 people have have missed up with my name which could cost me lots of money. I don't know why my family did not sort it out

I spoke to immigration who were completely unhelpful they passed me from pillar to post. And i was told I might need to update my passport which I can only do in Gambia and that I also might need to reapply for indefinite leave to remain which would cost thousand. If I apply for citizenship will it get rufused because my first name on the entry clearance does not match my passpory. My last name has been correctly spelt on the passport and entry clearance. I have been to Germany and holland as a child and have gotten back into the country without an issue regarding the different names. And I also have a home office document which says I have indefiant leave to remain which has the name on the passport.

Please someone tell me what i need to do to sort this. I don't know what to do. Its not right am paying for the mistakes of others

I don't know what your entry clearance document is, and when was it issued?
But if your ILR and your Passport are in the misspelled name, and you fulfill all other requirements why not just apply for naturalisation & passport, and then worry about correcting your name, which should be easier with a British passport. If this is too simple perhaps someone can comment further.
