hi,
i am on dependent teir 1 visa and my two kids too...we came in this country from india in oct 2013... my kids and my dependent visa is expiring in january 2018... my husband came in this country in 2011 from india and got british passport through naturalisation in sep 2017...i am aware that i have to finish 5 years for citizenship ....my query is do my children who were born outside uk also have to complete 5 years?...can they apply for ILR or for british passport on their dad basis without finishing 5 years of period ...??

Yes, they will follow the same path as you.
can they apply for ILR

They will qualify for ILR with you when you apply.
or for british passport on their dad basis without finishing 5 years of period ...??
No, they do not qualify for citizenship. They need ILR first.

In simple terms, children born abroad follow the immigration pathway of the less-privileged parent. They are also expected to have ILR before registration as a British citizen. So factor the costs into your future plans accordingly.

Yes. There is no shortcut route for children born abroad.
