Hi,

My baby born in UK in May 2017 and we are in Tier2 Visa and we will get ILR in Oct 2018, we dint took Indian passport and Visa to my baby because of we heard after we got ILR my baby will get direct british passport is this correct?

If in case before we get ILR if we take indian passport and visa to my baby, what visa she will get after we got ILR, do we need to apply naturalization directly to my baby and how many days it will take to get it british passport

Thanks in advance for your reply

Regards
Dbee

Correct, your child is entitled to register as British on form MN1 (required before a passport can be issued) once you get ILR. The child is not 'automatically' British so cannot directly get a British passport.

No visa necessary. You apply to REGISTER the child as British. It can take a few months for the whole process.

"Your parent has become a British citizen or settled since your birth

You can register to become a British citizen if you fulfil all of the criteria:

you were born in the UK on or after 1 January 1983
you’re under 18 when you apply
one of your parents has become a British citizen or settled in the UK since you were born

Apply using form MN1. Read the guidance before you apply.
