Approval letters by email?

I observed that in several recent cases (ref. timelines only topic), the members who got their naturalisation applications approved, have received approval through email, particularly after the online checking service was taken down or was discontinued.

Is this a new practice for HO to send approvals by email?

I would welcome people who received their approval in the past two weeks to comment.

To moderators: I apologise for raising this topic separately, as I didn't want to insert a question/reply that does not contain a status update in the timelines topic.

Many members have posted about this in the check-the-status-of-your-application-online-new-service (click) topic and is usually after chasing HO by email etc. but most still get the standard 2nd class letter. Please post your questions in that link.

We do not need yet another long running topic.
