Applying for British Passport following Citizenship Ceremony

Hi I was hoping somebody might be able to help with a query I have.

How soon after attending my Citizenship Ceremony can I apply for my British Passport? I need to travel fairly soon after I attend my Ceremony so really do need to send off for my passport ASAP.

Has anyone had any experience or knowledge of this.

Can I apply immediately (ie next day) ?

Is it quicker to apply online or going via the post office ?

Will I get my passport within 4 weeks of application ?

I would appreciate any advise or support given in this regard.

Many thanks,
Skye

Has anyone had any experience or knowledge of this. Yes I have, a year ago

Can I apply immediately (ie next day) ? Yes, even same day once you got your certificate

Is it quicker to apply online or going via the post office ? I think it depends on time of year,
got mine in seven working days including first passport interview (may not be required these days). Make your your name(s) are the same on all documents.

Will I get my passport within 4 weeks of application ? possibly, per above comment.

Thank you very much for your response. You mentioned getting your names right.

My certificate is being issued in my maiden name as per all paperwork - If I wanted to apply for my British passport in my married name providing a marriage certificate would this be a problem or do i just apply in my maiden name and look at changing it at a later stage?

Many thanks again,
Skye

You would need to change your foreign passport first.

Easier to apply in your maiden name as already advised in your other topic (click)

My previous post was related to Naturalisation - this is for my passport, sorry I don't mean to repeat myself.

I understand I could get a deed poll to apply in my married name but because I need the passport to travel asap applying in my maiden name seemed the more straight forward route for the meantime.

I just wanted to confirm that I have that right.

My foreign passport has expired and I am not retaining my South African citizenship.

Applying in your maiden name will be less trouble and hassle.
