Hi Members,

I have been reading topics on board and it has been very helpful and informative.
I have a few questions and I hope to get answers. Please see my details and questions:

- I am british citizen otherwise by decent (naturalised 2012)
- I got married in Pakistan in 2012 by a religious ceremony ( Nikah ) but it was never registered

- My wife is Pakistani citizen
- My Son was born in Pakistan in 2013

- because of my personal circumstances, I have not applied for any visa for my wife or son till now

- because of documentation requirements, I did Nikkah again in Pakistan in 2016 and got
it registered in union council and got marriage certificate

- "Nihhak Nama" is document completed by the religious authority/person who conducts religious ceremony. A marriage certificate is what given by union council after registration is complete (this can be done by you or by the religious person who conducted Nikkah)

- I have applied for my son's first british passport 4 months ago from Pakistan
- I have provided all documents as per my understanding and the information
- passport office asked for further documents like

proof of marriage
antenatal records
pictures of child with Family etc,
- I have provided all documents as requested including marriage certificate. I have additionally provided a DNA test that was not asked

Issue:

- My initial understand was that child born after 2006 and as a father even if I am not married to the mother of child at the time of birth, I can pass citizenship to my son
- Now I have found out that "Father of a child" is considered one who is husband of a women at the time of the birth

Questions:

- I have already submitter 2006 marriage certificate of Union Council but passport office is now asking for further proof of marriage (Nikkah Nama). Is this a requirement to submit marriage certificate for child passport application. Do I have to provide them with this?

- I am concerned why they are asking for this, is this something to be worried about

- How can a mother prove that she was not married to any one at the time of birth of child

- if i provide them Nikha Nama of 2012 , although i did not register, will it contradict with the Nikha Nama + marriage certificate issued in 2016 ?

Please help me to answer the above questions. Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Best Regards
