Hi to everyone.

Just received my Invitation letter for the ceremony. But it couldn't be good without being bad at the same time.
My problem is:
I'm from Ukraine and all my immigration history (Police certificate, Tier2 BRP, Life in UK, ILR BRP) I used my place of birth as: SMILTCHENCY, but according to new ukrainian transliteration law, which came in to force 27 January 2010 (which I was'nt aware of ) my place of birth must be SMILCHYNTSI.

My question is what should I do with it?
1.Continue to use it, as it is?
2.Get my Naturalisation Certificate and send it away for correction?

Don't worry, Ukraine doesn't allow dual nationally away so either just give it up or carry on - I know Ukraine won't even consider you as British unless you do give up Ukrainian citizenship. Their problem let them deal with it.

If it's any help my Russian partner is/was Nadezhda but she is now Nadezda in UK passport, never a problem, she just went with the flow...

Ukrainian authorities will not RECOGNIZE my second nationality, I still be ukrainian for them. And I have no problem with that.
My worry is, that Home Office will notice this misspelling at some poin later on and it may cause problems to me in the future.
How important Place of Birth is, anyway? Being written in UK passport?

There are always little transliteration problems, don't worry about that. Passport office will use whatever it is in your Ukranian passport. In my case they used TOMCK (Cyrillic) as it is in my Russian passport instead of TOMSK as it is supposed to be in Latin. And it is TOMCK in my citizenship certificate.

Thank you for your answer. Very much appreciated. The problem is next, as I was born in the village, in my ukrainian passport Place Of Birth is stated as OBLAST only, not even translated into Latin. Also, passport office takes details from Naturalisation Certificate.
If you don't mind me asking. What spelling did you use, in your previous applications?
Was it TOMCK or TOMSK?

I always used Tomsk in all my applications. They always changed it to Tomck (ilr, bc certificate, passport).

Howeever I consider sending my certificate back for correction.
I applied via JCAP so my passport will be sent to me automatically, or should I phone Passport office after the ceremony and inform them that I'm sending my certificate for correction???
Or should I just receive passport and then replace it, when my certificate is corrected???
Any ideas folks??
