Do I need to return my UK Residency Card after obtaining the citizenship?

Hi,

I just received my UK citizenship certificate but as a EU based on the new rules from 2017, I had to apply for the Permanent Residency Card as part of the process of obtaining the citizenship.

Should I return my Permanent Residency Card?

This article suggest that I'm obligate to return my "biometric residence permit (BRP)".

Is that implying that I need to return my "Permanent Residency Card" or is "biometric residence permit (BRP)" is something different?

Can you guys advise? The fine of £1000 is a bit too much to take an uneducated guess.

Please let me know as I can't find anything online and the rules are not clear :/

Only for those who have a BRP, not a PR card.

To clarify, the only biometrics that I provided were delivered during the process for my citizen application in the post office. I received no certificate and I only got the receipt of this action. The biometrics were sent directly to the Home Office (I think). As a EU national, I never had to do any BPR (I don't know what is it) and I only had to do the PR during my application for the citizenship thus my confusion.

Based on that clarification, I understand that I don't need to return my PR card.

I guess the naming scheme is the confusing thing in this case and I hope that Home Office will be able to provide more clarifications for future applicants.

Thank you for your help!
