MN1 Registration Questions for UK born child

Hi all,

A forum newbie here, I am posting on the most relevant thread I could find.

I am EEA national, long term UK resident and with with PR (blue card). I am in the process of registering my UK born child as British under Section 1(3) of the British Nationality act. I intend to use NDRS to apply for a UK passport at the same time, and have thus filled the MN1 form, online version, as required by the new procedure (as of Feb 2018).

I have filled the online form and have been returned with a list of documents to submit; almost all items make sense (EEA Passport, Birth certificate with parent's names, Marriage certificate, proof of parents settled status, 2x Referee Declarations).

However there is one item in the list that is puzzling: "Miss (my daughters name)'s British passport, certificate of British citizenship, or evidence of their settled status in the UK (for example, a Permanent Residence document)."
My daughter is obviously not British (yet) so cannot provide a passport or certificate, and I would not think she needs to hold PR, as she is applying in force of that of her parent's.

Is this a glitch in the new online form, an item that does not apply to me, or am I missing something?

Many thanks for any help/advice.

Likely a glitch. She does not require PR as she is UK born and has an entitlement to register.

Bear in mind that the application forms cover all types of applications, many of which where such a document would be required.

Many thanks for your reply.

I have another couple of questions:

1. Whilst the paper form MN1 requests details of travel abroad in the last 5 years, the new equivalent online form does not (at least, for a child).

2. Also no requirement to prove that the child has been living in the UK, e.g. via letters from Schools, doctors, etc. If I am not wrong, this would be required for e.g. a PR application, but it seems not required for registration.

Is it prudent that I submit these additional documents with my application in any case (better safe than sorry) or not necessary?

I don't have sight or experience of the online form so not able to comment.

A UK born child has an entitlement to register. No minimum residence is required so there is nothing that needs to be proved.

Not necessary.
