I applied for naturalisation in April this year. I am still awaiting decision.

My current Indian passport has about 4 months remaining on it. I am looking to travel to India for an essential business work some time mid of July. For this I am planning to get my passport renewed.

When I renew my passport this would obviously invalidate the current passport. Hence my questions:

• Would this affect my current naturalisation application, as the HO would now be working with details of an expired passport?
• Do I need to send in details of the new passport to the HO?
• Does it mean another round of NDRS just for the passport?

Your current passport was valid at the time of application - therefore I don't believe renewal will have any effect on your application. For peace of mind I would send a copy of the new passport direct to UKVI, quoting your reference number. Recommend you send this by sign-for delivery service, and keep a copy.

I agree it would be ideal to inform HO about this change (getting a new passport) but, just trying to assess, if it is mandatory?

If not, then I can make my journey, come back and then send the updated passport.

Not aware of a specific rule. But only send a copy, not the original, unless specifically requested.
