Fingerprints

Hi,
I submitted my citizenship application today, but i’m going abroad to see my parents for four weeks in a week’s time so I most likely won’t be here when they ask me to have my fingerprints taken. Could I have my fingerprints taken at the post office before I go away without their letter? I went to the Nationality Checking Service today and I was told I could send an email to the home office to let them know. However, they must get sent thousands of emails... Has anyone got experience with this?

No you cannot. You need the letter as it has a barcode on specific to you and your application.

Did you use the paper form to apply or the online form??

Hi, Thanks so much for your reply!!
I used the paper form. I will come back should they ask for fingerprints whilst i’m away. It’s crazy, at the Nationality Checking Service today the employee also said the ho will contact me if any documents are missing. I should not worry that one of my tax returns was incomplete and I should just submit it. That sounds so strange to me. She also said I could send them another tax return i.e. the most recent year to prove residency. I’ve never heard that you can submit additional documents afterwards. How bizarre.

UKVI can and occassionally do request additional documents or originals - therefore you should have someone look out for your mail if you are away, just in case.
