Hello everyone,

My baby was born here a week ago. I have applied for her birth certificate and the appointment is a bit far. I also plan to go to Canada in the first week of August. I need her birth certificate to apply for her Canadian and British passports. I was thinking to apply for the Canadian one first and then once in canada apply for the British one from there. Is that ok? Not going to cause any issues in her british citizenship right?


My husband has ILR and I am on tier 2 dependant visa (husband was on tier 2 general visa but now has ILR )

You can apply for baby's British passport using the one week fast track service.

Passports from overseas take a few months.

Ok. Do I need to submit the Canadian passport as well for the baby when applying for the British passport?

No you do not. A child born to a parent who hold ILR is automatically British. Evidence of parents ILR will need to be submitted.

Okay thanks for telling me. Can you also provide me with the link of all the required documents that I do need to send. Because I could only find this.
