BC for child born to EEA parents

Hi everyone!

I am new to the forum so forgive me for any mistake.

I have two kids (3 and 2 years old) both born in the UK; Italian nationals.

I have been living in the country since 2012 and only applied for my EEA QP last year; The kids have been denied the British passports because I was not permanently resident in the UK exercising treaty rights for a minimum period of 5 years prior to their birth.

What can you advise? I do not want to give up my nationality but want them to be British. I was thinking to apply for PR but wouldn't change much because they are not 5 yet or apply for naturalisation/registration?

Thank you in advance for the assistance!

If they were born before you attained PR, then you have to register them as British on form MN1, current cost is £1033 each.

UK born children DO NOT need PR.

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Wow that's a huge amount but I guess it's the only way. So once and if they get registered as BC, I can then apply for their British passport, right?

Thanks for the assistance.
