Married after son was born in USA - Citizenship by descent - which form?

Hi. I have been looking for an answer to the following which I believe may be straight forward.

My son was born in the USA in 2000. His mother and I married in 2002 which is obviously after he was born. We divorced in 2006. My son, now 18, has lived his whole life in the USA and I returned to the UK almost 6 years ago. I understand there are 2 different applications for him to apply for British citizenship. One is required as stated if your parents were married, and the other if your parents were not married. What I cannot find is whether the form for your parents being wed is applicable in this case as we wed after he was born. Clarification on which application is relevant will answer my question.

Thanks for any help.

Assuming that his mother wasn’t British. If you are British otherwise than by descent at the time of son’s birth and the marriage legitimated your son, then just apply for a British passport.

Thanks for the advice. The whole marriage thing had me confused with us marrying after he was born. My son's mother is American. I will have him apply for his passport Stateside.
