I have stayed in this country for 8 years and have been granted for discretionary leave because my children spending more then 7 years and under 18. The problem is that will I have to give Life in the UK and also my wife and two children. Thanks

1. Children under 18 years of age DO NOT have to do the LIUK test or the English B1 test.

2. You and your spouse must do both Life in the UK test AND the English B1 test, there is no exemption for citizenship like you have for ILR.

You still have a way to go just to get ILR. Suggest check nearer the time when you qualify to apply for citizenship what the requirements are as they could change.

Thanks for your reply. But by the time we will apply for ILR in 2020 November my son will be 19 and my daughter will be 17 so will they still have to give it. Secondly they have got their GCSE and A levels from here since they have spent their childhood in UK.

Will I and my wife have to give English exam and Life in the UK before Citizenship or ILR.

Your son yes, your daughter no as she will still be under 18 years of age. Doing GCSE and A Levels is NOT sufficient. If they are over 18, they need to do the English B1 test and LIUK.

Before citizenship. Applicants for ILR holding 6 years DLR do not require it.
