apply in the UK but then leave

hi,
I have just applied for Permanent Residence, which I expect to obtain by November or December at the latest.
I will then apply for Citizenship. In early March I'll have to leave the UK and move to France for work reasons.
Will my application be valid even if by the time this is finalised I won't be a UK resident anymore?
Thank you very much!

Unless you are married to a British citizen, you won't qualify for British citizenship until you have held PR for 12 months.

But I can have it backdated to 2012 (may the date of my arrival, so more than 6 years ago, can’t I?

No, it doesn't work like that. For Citizenship, the last 5 years immediately preceding the date of application is the qualifying period and this must include 12 months of holding PR if you are not married to a British citizen.

What is your full UK immigration history??

I moved to the UK for work in May 2012.
I have just applied for PR (should be no problem, got 6 years and change of payslips and all)
In between I have always been living in the UK.
I’ll leave the country in March and want to get UK citizenship

It depends on the date HO state in your PR letter that you have attained PR, which is usually a different date to your PR card.

Is there a way to make sure it gets backdated to 1 year ago? Or it’a just down to whoever goes through the PR application and how he feels like?

It depends on your supporting documents you submitted to prove you were a qualified person exercising treaty rights for the whole 5 years you are claiming,

P60
Hopefully it works
Unfortunately I don’t see any box to tick to select “backdating” in the PR application

If you submitted evidence (usually more than P60s is required) from 2012 till x date, HO will confirm your PR per the directive if you meet the full exercising treaty rights for 5 years requirement. It is not a case of the caseworker just deciding what they feel like stating.
