Hi,
I am in the UK for a PhD Tier 4 student visa for my family. As I understand applying for a citizenship requires staying in the country for 5 years, but in a non-student visa, is this correct?
My partner has her own company established in the UK, can this help in counting these years toward the citizenship years?

You require ILR before you can apply for citizenship.

To qualify for ILR after 5 years, you must hold a qualifying visa. Tier 4 is NOT a qualifying visa for ILR based on 5 years and can only be used for ILR based on 10 years long residence.

Your partners business is irrelevant.
