i acquired british citizenship early this year and intend to stay here for life hopefully however there are some personal reason ie my father 64 now back in india if he cant get a permanent visa here we might have to move there .. my question is if we have indian OCI and move there will be lose UK citizenship after few years or something of that sort ?

You are free to move out of the UK. No effect on your citizenship.

lastly i heard that if we move to india and stay on OCI for 5/6 years we can re qualify for Indian Citizenship too

You cannot bring your father to the UK as your dependent.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I suppose he can bring his father via adult dependent relative visa. However the chances of approval is really narrow.

The chance of approval is almost zero and if you apply and it is refused, it shuts the door to future visitor visas. Since the rules were made more difficult in 2012, only a very small number have been successful but only after lenghty (years) and very expensive appeals.

Hey guys,

i acquired UK citizenship this year and was planning to get my father here on ADR only to know now that its really difficult based on some threads here. I wanted to know if in worse case i decide to go back to india n stay there on OCI atleast for few years is there a max period i can be out without affecting my uk citizenship or is it that only my status changes as non resident here

also i intend to carry on my business here even when am away and its a pvt ltd company and its an online business , is there any restrictions on that ?

You are a British citizen now and free to leave and return to the UK without limitations at any time.

Running your business from wherever has nothing to do with immigration rules or nationality laws.

If you claim benefits, you will have to stop and inform the various offices accordingly.

Keep your tax affairs in order.

the only thing we get is child benefit monthly , i suppose we have to inform them to stop that incase we leave i think its abt 80 quid a month

Yes you cannot claim child benefit if you and family move out of the UK.
