I am trying to get a clear picture on the type of UK citizenship that my daughter is entitled to given the circumstances.

I am a British citizen born in UK and my wife is a citizen of Laos. She is 3 years old.

My daughter was born in Laos whilst I was overseas working with the United Nations Development Programme.

As I can gather from the various extensive searches and putting together a number of pieces from various sources there is a provision for her to be classed as British otherwise than by descent rather than British by descent. From what I can see Section 18 Annex F(i) provides a list of relevant organisations relevant to the clause "Service under an international organisation of which the United Kingdom or Her Majesty’s government in the United Kingdom is a member." but this seems related to applying for naturalisation.

This is an important clarification for me to put in place for her future given that British by descent means that she cannot pass on her British citizenship to her children (unless of course they are born in UK or the father is a UK citizen otherwise by descent). It is the reason I stopped working overseas and returned home to UK to ensure my son was born in UK as at that time I was totally unaware of any potential provision for children born outside of UK to be given British citizenship otherwise by descent.

Can someone please advise me on how to get the correct clarification on this matter and what I need to put in place or do next?

Even though your daughter born outside the UK and have BC by descent. If she lives in the UK long enough she can register her children as BC even they are born outside the UK.

This might help -though I would wait for one of the experts on here to confirm - it seems your child can go straight to the UK passport.
