different spelling of first name

Hi all,

I have ILR and soon will apply for British citizenship and a British passport. I has just come to my attention that the UK has an issue with different spellings of your names in passports, so I want to clarify something please.

I am Canadian and also have the nationality of my husband's country. The spelling of my first name is different on the passport from his country as they do not have some english letters, so I changed the spelling of my first name when I applied for citizenship so that my name would be pronounced properly. There are 3 letters that are different- for example think Julia/Giulia. This passport also does not mention my middle name.

I will request my citizenship and passport in my Canadian name (as shown on my Canadian passport), but I understand I will have to show both foreign passports to get a British one. Are they going to refuse me citizenship and/or a passport?

I don't want to change the spelling of my name in the other country as I don't want the hassle and like having a locally-spelled name. What else can I do? Do I need to cancel the foreign passport, apply for the British one, and then reapply for the foreign passport? Or will they allow it as its clearly just a few letters different?

Thanks for your help.
