British Citizenship – 6 points after pleading guilty in court

Hi guys,

I'd appreciate a bit of help on this. I wanted to register to become a british citizen under the lived in the uk for the first 10 years of my life. The good character requirements state that a non custodial sentence would usually refuse an application if it occurred during the last 3 years.

I had 6 points on my licence for driving whilst uninsured back on the 13th october 2014, which i went to court to plead down the sentence.

The sentencing date was the 5th March 2015, so either way it's been 3 years since the offence occurred but what i wanted to know was that due to it being over 3 years would there be any specific reason as to why they would decline the application now specifically in relation to that offence?

I appreciate this question may seem silly, but i'm just worried about applying and losing the application fee for an application that would get refused.

You need to disclose the court penalty - if you don't this may count against you on "good character" grounds - i.e. not disclosing. Unlikely to be an issue unless you collected points and penalties on a regular basis and don't settle fines. This type of question is a regular one and doesn't appear to be an issue, as long as all the details are provided.
