British Citizenship – Good Character Previous Sham Marriage issue

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me with my issue here.

to make my story short:

I came to UK in 2010 in student visa, in 2012 I was involved in sham marriage (as I didnt want to apply for asylum due to risk to my family back home).
as soon as i entered the register office , the UKBA force caught us and interview us. clearly was sham marriage as she didnt spoke word of english. I stayed at police station for few days then i applied for asylum.

i know it was an act of stupidity , however, i did it just for the sake of my family back home.

i did DBS check in 2013 and nothing was there (no convictions).

my question is , shall i mention this issue into my application for British citizenship ?
if yes, i am afraid that they wont grant me citizenship till 2022 (as its been 10 years since sham marriage). ?

its just i haven't seen my family for 10 years now , and i really want to go to my country as British citizenship.

please any advice would be much appreciated

thanks

1-It is hard not to be able to see your family for 10 years I hope you get everything sorted .
in your case before applying you need take into consideration : the 10 years rule .

2-You need to count from the date you became legal in UK without any breach of immigration rules +10 years

3-Since you been stopped by immigration in the register office and you spent few days in police station they must recorded the info in their system under your name so it s better to mention it in the additional information .this is just my opinion hope senior members of this forum help clarify things for you.

Good luck .
