Hi,

I need to register my child has British as I and my wife are ILR.
I started filling the online MN1 form, where i see that i need two Referee's,
1st one whom should we request, any advise please , can i ask my child's nursery staff or GP?i its been very long i don't see any health visitor visited us.

2nd one professional is family friend, and a British will that be ok?

Finally, am pretty confident that i can fill it up and submit ok , but wondering do we really need an Solicitor?

Hi, Yes UK born but during that time i was in Tier2 General status and i got my child Indian passport / BRP valid till jan 2020.

we got our ILR granted recently, so wanted to apply British citizenship assuming we are eligible. Online form was ok to fill by referring guidance notes, but referee details where am struck.

You can ask the nursery teacher or GP or religious leader. The professional referee can be of any nationality.

The other referee as your friend is fine, provided they obviously know the child.

You don't need a solicitor.

I asked the nursery Manager and had no issue acting as referee for my children. If you are applying online, make sure you scan the referee docs and consent docs along with the rest of required documents. At the appointment I was told referees is an optional documents so I am glad I scanned it since they do not take any documents at the appointment day.

One last question, on the referee document from HO, can i assume photo to be affixed is the Referee's one and not the child photo , is that correct understanding?

No. It is the applicants photo!!
