ILR in expired USA passport

The first time I renewed my USA passport after securing ILR was in 2009. When I rec'd my new passport, the ILR cert had been transferred into the new book. However, this week (2019) when I got my new USA passport back following the most recent renewal, the ILR was still in the old book. I now see that an option is to apply for biometrics in the new book, which will show my ILR. I'm wondering, instead of shelling-out for the biometrics (to help support a visa I've already paid for), is it possible to successfully make application for dual nationality even though the ILR is in the previous passport? Cheers.

ILR or PR stamps or vignettes in passports can be used to support your AN application, even if the passport is expired.
BRP card is now required to prove "right of work".

Do you still have the old passport with the ILR Vignette? If so, you can use that as part of yoyr supporting document for naturalisation as a UK citizen, assuming you meet the requirements.

Ok, thank you both. Helpful information, much appreciated.
