Confused with route to Citizenship for Spouse

Hi All,

I am currently on an Indefinite leave to remain and eligible to apply for citizenship/passport next month. However I am confused with what route is best for my wife to obtain her citizenship/passport. She came on a Tier 2 dependant visa in July 2015 and was on this visa until June 2016. In June 2016 she switched to a Tier 2 General(sponsored by her employer). Am i right in thinking that with 3 years of continuous residence in the UK and me getting my citizenship will she be eligible for her citizenship(or an ILR atleast) soon as well?

Thank you.

Your wife's immigration clock was re-set to zero when she switched visa categories, putting her on a new 5 year path to settlement (ILR). She will qualify for settlement in 2021 and assuming she meets all the standard requirements, if you hold British citizenship she will be able to apply for BC straight after being granted ILR.

ILR is mandatory in order to qualify for BC.
