Nationality requirement in MN1 form for 2 year old

Hi,

I'm applying for MN1- registering my child as British Citizen. He is 2 years old and born in the UK. He has not travelled abroad yet and not got any travel document. He has only got a UK Birth certificate. We are Srilankans and we got our ILR last year.

In the online application form it asked for his nationality. I'm not sure if I should put Sri lanka or United Kingdom. If Sri lanka it asks for a Srilankan passport.
Should I register my child as Srilankan and get a Srilankan passport before applying for British citizenship? In the MN1 guidance it only says either passport or birth certificate.

Please advice.

Regards
Sherene

If you put Sri Lankan it shouldn’t ask you any passport , it’s not mandatory to send identification if child never had one , only birth certificate , referee details, parents identity , proof of settlement required in my best opinion
