Return of documents

It is taking a long time now for documents sent through postal application for my sons citizenship application to be returned by the home office (Applied in January 2019, approved in March 2019 and ceremony done in April 2019).
He has attended the citizenship ceremony already, awaiting British passport, but all documents have not been sent back by the home office.
Is anyone in this situation too please?.
