Hi,
My dad lives outside the UK, he applied British passport 30 years ago is some scheme, which he can’t remember it now. He is 75 years old and said when he applied for British passport they asked for proof of address after few weeks and he traveled outside the uk and never responded back to them.

He was in UK last year and was driving car on international driving licence police stop him and said as you are British citizen you should have UK driving licence. He presented his Indian passport but police man insisted that he is British and later on let him go.

Now my question is how I can check status of my father that he is British or not ? Please help and put me in right direction.

You need to provide more background to your father's status. What are/were his connections to the UK? When did he enter/leave the UK? etc. Members may then be able to comment.

He lives in India coming in UK since 1965 on business visa. Is there any form you need to fill to check your status or write to HO.

Where and when was your father born?

There is no central database of British citizens. It is up to the applicant to prove that s/he has British citizenship.
