Possible British Citizenship procedure

My grandmother and father were born in southern Zimbabwe (Rhodesia). They were told that they possibly might be able to apply for British Citizenship and that we could then do the same. Myself and my brother were born in South Africa. Is this a possibility? How can we go about inquiring about this?
