Knowledge of English Requirement

Hi, I'm currently in the process of applying for naturalisation for my wife and I have a question to do with the knowledge of English requirement:

My wife applied for ILR in 2014 and in January 2014 received a certificate for "Grade 5 - Graded Examination in Spoken English, Entry Level Certificate in ESOL International (Speaking & Listening) (Entry 3) B1.1 of the CEFR." This certificate was used accepted in the application for ILR.

Can this same certificate be used in the Naturalisation application?

ESOL is no longer accepted for citizenship. It was removed in November 2015.

To use an old test, it needs to be on the current HO list of approved tests and test providers.

I know it's no longer accepted for new applications, I wanted to know if this certificate which was accepted for ilr can be used for naturalisation. .gov website guidance for naturalisation states:

"You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if you’re applying for citizenship and it was accepted when you settled in the UK.

It does not matter if the B1 level test you took is not on the current list of recognised tests. You do not need to take another test."

Do you really want to take the risk??

Members have been refused for submitting the wrong test.
