Wife and children apply for citizenship - family application?

hi all,

Wonder if anyone can help with some experience of applying for naturalisation with children?

My wife and two children (under 18 although daughter is 18 end of next month) have always applied together, and last week were given ILR status (yay!).

Now we want to get on with citizenship (under 5 year route) and as she is married to me a british citizen can apply now.

I notice on the main page to apply it notes:

Quote:
Apply for your children
You must apply separately for your children - you cannot include them in your own application.

You can apply to ‘register’ your child for citizenship if they were born either:

outside of the UK
inside the UK before you were granted indefinite leave to remain
Read the guidance to check you can apply.

How much it costs
It costs £1,012 to apply for each child.

You must also pay £80 for your child’s citizenship ceremony if they turn 18 during the application process.
Ok so i have to do three applications, annoying but not end of the world

I read the guidance notes (M1) however and it reads:

Quote:
Children born abroad to parents who are applying for British
citizenship
Where one or both parents are applying for British citizenship they may apply for
one or more children who are not automatically British at birth (see “Automatic
acquisition of British citizenship” above) to be registered as British citizens as part of
a “family application”. Children in this category will be considered at the Home
Secretary’s discretion and will usually be registered only if both the parents are
granted or already hold British citizenship, or if one parent holds British citizenship
and the other is settled in the UK.

I cant seem to find a link for this family application, but could it be the M1 guidance notes are not for me as its a different for?....does anyone have any experience on this that can advise?

There is no specific form for a "family application" - If I understand correctly wife needs to fill in AN and MN1 for the child.

Hi thanks for your reply,

On the online form https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... onality-an, i am given the option to add children, although the previous page said otherwise.
"if you are making an application with other people, such as a family member or dependant, you can add them here. You can either add each applicant to this page first before filling in their details (including your own) or you can fill in all the details for one applicant first and then add others"
When i start to add in the child info first question is:
Are either of the parents of the child (as stated in this application) applying for naturalisation as a British citizen on an AN form?
I click yes, as the mother is applying also on the same application, and then it goes on to ask what type of visa does the child have..with an example of indefinate leave to remain.

So i think im OK to carry on what im doing...and can only presume when i add in the childs information that is in fact the online M1 form!
