BP FOR CHILDREN - GOING THE 3YR WORK IN UK ROUTE:
Who has applied for BP for their children going the "worked 3 years in the UK" Route with a BP by descent (I got my BP through my father was born in Scotland)?

I did the xxxxx Free assessment and the result came back as likely. Their email said the following;
"Your children could be registered as British citizens, based on having a British parent (the mother) who has spent at least two and a half years in the UK in the past."

My concern is, I just made the 3 year time limit with my last two months being spent traveling to Asia/Australia and then returned to the UK for a few days before returning to SA. So I am trying to work out before spending all the money, if I indeed fall into this 3 year time limit. My amount of total time out of the UK in these three years is within the required specification. And I worked in the UK from May 2000 until end of Feb 2003.
I have a N1 number and it shows online that I have three years of tax contributions, would that help?
If anyone has done this application, I would be most grateful for your input. Thank you!

It isn't a passport application.

You need to register the children as British first and it could be a Section 3(2) or 3(5) registration. Cost is £1022 each. Passport is separate to this after they are British. It is 3 years residence either before their birth (which you did not achieve based on your dates in 200/03) OR 3 years residence since their birth (not 2.5 years).

Thank you. My entry date into the UK was 15 April 2000 and I left on the 10th of May 2003 returning to South Africa, would this not be seen as my residing in the UK for 3 years? Or does my holiday abroad in March & April 2003 negate this?

Thank you for your response. So do the Home Office look at the amount of months/years you worked to equal the 3 year rule, or would the day you arrived till the day you left, be seen as the 3 year rule for section 3(2) MN1? I would love to work this out before trying to apply and paying the high fee.

It is based on residence and the evidence you have to submit to prove your residence for the period you are using.
