Hi, I have already received my naturalisation and would now apply for the passport. I can see, that I need to send my other country's passport with the application (I am from an EU country), however, my other country's passport has expired and I have only an ID card at the moment. Do you think it is ok to send my ID card? Or shall I first renew my other country's passport?

I contacted HMRC with this question and they said that it does need to be a passport, but it can be expired!

Yes that is correct. You should apply with your passport and all the name on that passport must match with your certificate and the name you applied for your British passport
