On the requirements for spouse naturalisation it states that the applicant has to have ILR, an eu settled scheme status or BRP on the date of the application. My question is, does it take the date of submitting the application online or the date of the appointment with UKVCAS? Would the application be declined if eu settled scheme status is awarded in the period between the two?

You must have settled status on the day you submit it online

Thank you for the reply, I was hoping it would be the later one. Unfortunately I though I don’t need it after being here legally for the last 14 years with full employment history and married to a British citizen.

The settled status is defined by UK nationality law, so as the procedures on becoming a British citizen. This is why you must acquire settled status under the UK law regardless of how long you lived here before applying to naturalise as a British citizen
