Hi eveyone,

I was wondering if you all can guide me on my quiery.

I come from commonweath county and my farther was a British citizen and lived in the uk since 1980, I believe he first entered in uk in 1940s. In his passport I can see "Partiality certificate stamped "

While I was in my education my father took my brother to uk and my older sister they have now settled in uk for 50 years but unfortunately I couldn't because I was at colleage studying.

I believe my brother and sister acquired British status by desent.

My question:
Is it possible for me to apply for British status ? Considering my age is now 50 years old.

If I can, please advise what steps I need to take, ie what type of forms I need to complete and summit to Home Office.

Thank you so much.

Also, how did he acquire patriality (old name for Right of Abode)? When and where were his ancestors (all four grandparents and both parents) born? When and where were you and your siblings born?

No, my farther wasn't British by birth, as fare as I'm aware, my farther never had British passport but had " British partiality" on his passport, which I think is "Right abode "

Not sure how he acquired partiality, he was born in 1927, residing in Bangladesh but before indepentance it was part of India, so four grandparent were born in India. Hope this helps. Thank you so much.

Did your father reside in the UK (as it is now constituted) before 1971?

Which month/year were you born? Do you know if/when your father was registered as a British citizen?

Thank you so much for your reply.

My farther did reside in the UK, but later he moved to Bagladesh and passed away.

I was born in January 1969. I am not sure if my farther registered as British citizen. I have checked the national archives site for naturalisation-british-citizenship/ but could not find his mane .
