Hi
I am applying citizenship for the whole family (all 4 of us) , can we all have/ share the same referees who have known us for more than 5 years for our applications. We have few options/ friends who can be our referees - one lawyer, retired nurse, landlord, QS surveyor, church pastors and teachers for children.
Pls help to tell us and advise us:
1. whether we can have the same 2 referees for all 4 or us?
2. Which professions above are at the safe side to seek for the purpose of this application?
Many thanks
Ed

Sorry, 2 more questions:
1. What is this Letter of consent from my children's parents (which is me !!)?
What should I write in that letter for this application??
2. Proof of living in UK - Bank statement is not considered proof in this application, can anyone tell us what they have used in this case?
Thanks

Yes.

There is no such 'safe' concept. You need a referee that is on the HO list.

Perhaps part of the online form at the end.
2. Proof of living in UK - Bank statement is not considered proof in this application, can anyone tell us what they have used in this case?
Passports only if you are NON EU citizens.

All passports since arrival in the UK.

You can only apply for a passport after you have attended your ceremony. A Google search will give you the link or pick up paper forms at the Post Office.

Hi I managed to have some friends who are lawyer, nurse and accountant but they are retired, can they still qualify to be referees for this purpose.
Also, must they know us for 3 years at least. The referee form for them to sign does not state this requirement.
Pls help with your inputs and experience.
Many thanks
Ed

Urgent - Proof of living in UK for 5 year

Hi all
Been filling up the online form for application of British citizen.
One evidence of documents they asked for is the proof of living in UK for 5 years.
Is this referring to passport as they did gave this as example.
My question is:
1. If passport is required, do we have to scan and make copies of all pages of current and old passports?
2. Can ILR BRP as the evidence of this requirement - logically we got ILR as we have passed the 5 years criterion to get approval.
Thanks
Ed

Topics merged. Please do not post British citizenship questions in the ILR sub forum!
1. If passport is required, do we have to scan and make copies of all pages of current and old passports?
You simply scan all pages that have stamps and your bio page. Copies are NOT required in addition to the scanned and uploaded documents.
2. Can ILR BRP as the evidence of this requirement - logically we got ILR as we have passed the 5 years criterion to get approval.
No. It is your passports that prove residence. Your ILR is just a card confirming status. Don't confuse the immigration rule ILR route with the British Nationality Act/Law requirements. You are not repeating an ILR application under the immigration rules. Citizenship is different requirements and a different department.

Thanks for the reply.
I am at the final stage of submitting the application ONLINE.
You mentioned COPIES ARE NOT REQUIRED, meaning I don't have to make photocopies of these passport pages when I am present at the counter???
Do you know whether we only have one off chance uploading the documents on the websites or we can come back to upload additional docs at later time or date??
Also, can I upload multiple files or ALL relevant documents in ONE file ?
I am just at the stage of paying the fee online and not sure what I can and cannot do after paying (therefore I dare not to make payment right now).
Kindly advise.
Thanks again
Ed

No, you take your original passport with as UKCVAS will need to verify your identity etc.

You can upload up to shortly before your appointment. Anything you do upload AFTER your UKCVAS appointment will not be considered or sent to HO.
Also, can I upload multiple files or ALL relevant documents in ONE file ?
Whatever you upload cannot be more than 6MB, so likely more than one file and there are categories listed to upload in.

Sorry, I have one more question:
1. What is the letter of consent from my children's parents about, as my wife (their legal biological parent) is applying the citizenship with my children at the same time???
If this is required in our case, are we both (father and mother) writing this letter to give consent to the children to apply for citizenship??
PS: I ( as the father and husband to their mum) am not applying the citizenship at this time in this case.

Just draft two lines that you consent to your children applying for British Citizenship. Both parents name and sign. Thats it.
