Naturalisation for my Child born outside UK

Dear All, I need some help with the following query. My Son was born in Pakistan in 2013 and came to UK as my dependent when he was 4 months old. Him and my wife got ILR via the 5 years route a few months ago, whilst I had my naturalisation last year and have got British passport.
Now I am applying for Naturalisation for my wife but someone has told me that I can apply directly for British passport for my son and don't need to apply naturalisation for him.
Not sure if that is true? I would be very grateful for an advice.
Many Thanks :?

Thanks Vinny, so I need to apply for naturalisation for him, and they do not need to wait for one year post ILR to apply?

Child may register. Your wife may naturalise. They do not have to wait post ILR.
