Goodday Everyone,

The father of my child is a british citizen, was born in London 1961. He mother also (child's grandmother) was born in London as well. Does this make my child a british citizen by descent even though he was born outside the uk and even though i wasnt married to his father.

Please advice, do we register or just apply for a british passport?

It depends on child’s date of Birth.

As your child was born after July 2007, then he would be a British citizen by descent from his British father, providing that the father is named on the birth certificate.

Of course, because the child is himself a British citizen by descent, he cannot pass on his British citizenship automatically to any children born to him abroad.

Yes his Father is named on his birth certificate, and that was done before september 2015.

Do we just go ahead and apply for his passport? i was reading in the guidance notes

Ÿ Your ‘full’ birth certificate or adoption certificate that shows your parent’s details (the ‘short’ version which is issued for free by the registrar is not acceptable).
Ÿ One of your parents’ birth certificates or naturalisation or registration certificates
Ÿ If this is your father, his marriage certificate to your mother

We weren't married, does this matter? every other document can be provided.

Just apply for British a passport. A Marriage certificate is not compulsory.

I applied and got my son's passport within 11 days. Thanks to everyone.

I have more issues unfortunately. I and my son came here using spouse visa and we are currently on Further leave to remain, but now my son is british (do i inform the home office?)

My marriage with my husband has also just broken down, he just abandoned me like that after 7 years knowing fully well my stay is dependent on him. I've been due to apply for my ILR since august, i already wrote the B1 test and passed the life in uk test all in the hopes that i would apply, my husband then decided to do a runner, i have no idea where in the world he is right now i'm still in shock. As my marriage has broken down although no documents(divorce/separation) to prove this. Neither myself or husband has informed the home office yet because i haven't gotten a message from them saying he's informed them. Can i switch to parent route without informing them?

It’s hard to imagine that a husband and father would choose to abandon his wife and young child out of the blue.

How long has he gone missing? Did he give any indications of his unhappiness?

Have you inform the police that he is missing? Contact his relatives, workplace, check his social media? Did you check the hospitals in case he had a stroke or accident or illness, etc.?

Request refunds of child’s entry clearance and leave to remain applications.

My husband works in bahrain and was due to come home on the 31st october. But he never did. He phones was switched off and he wasn't responding to emails. After about one week he replied my email saying that "i am done" I was in shock that a seven year marriage would end like that. We had all just been to scotland and amsterdam for holiday during the end of the summer holiday and we had a lovely time. He never made any complaints about him been unhappy so this really came as a shock to me. I tried begging and pleading but all to no avail. Now he doesn't even respond to an emails. He's left me with a car finance i cant pay for and house i cant afford. I feel so blindsided but i have to be strong and move on for my son's sake.

Please how do i go about seeking a refund?

Also about my immigration status, i'm confused on how to move forward. I'm seeking assistance with social services and my council cause i would be made homeless soon. My current visa doesn't allow me to use public funds and if i do i could be affecting my future applications. Do i just put in an application for parent route without informing the home office? Please advice.

I think you may apply for leave to remain as a parent.

Can i put in the application while still on my FLR(M) ? Or do i inform the home office first of my recent situation with my husband. Because non of us have filed for separation or divorce yet, i'm still legally married.
