The requirement of "Write name and date on back of photo and glue to referee form"?

Hi,

For the referee of MN1 application, the referee form is asking me to :
On the back of the applicant’s photograph, please write
their full name and date of birth. The photograph should
then be glued into the space aside.
Then once that is done, I should take signature from my referee's.

I dont see the sense of this request? Or maybe I misunderstood..
  • If I am to glue the photo onto the form, then no one can see whats written on its back.. if I was asked to staple it then thats different, but to glue is basically tearing off the photo from the form to read whats written on its back??
  • After all this, this document will be scanned at the biometric appointment and a soft copy will be sent to visa processing office. If this will be scanned then it makes even less sense to make this request.
Like I said, maybe I misunderstood.. can someone please shed some light on this silly request?

Thanks

This goes back to the days of the paper application - in case the glued-on picture detached and got lost during processing it could be matched back to the application, if found. The form hasn't been updated since (also there are some instances where paper applications are still permitted).
For loading the referee form it's ok just to stick the photo on and scan/upload.
