Hi all
I’ve recently become British but I’m going to a backpacking trip abroad for 6 months next week so I won’t be able to wait for my British passport to come back so I have a couple of questions
- can I apply for a British passport without sending my original foreign passport? So that I can still go off to my trip next week with my foreign passport
- if I cannot apply for a British passport without sending my foreign passport then is there a deadline to apply for a British passport once you got naturalised ?

You need to send in your foreign passport, no other option. If you can't get in the UK visa free, you might be blocked while trying to leave when you board the plane/train without a British passport.
