Hi All,
I have received email that the application for British citizenship has been approved for my child who was born in the UK. Both my husband and myself have ILR.
We have travel plans in the 1st week of December.
Can anyone suggest if my little one can still travel with his Indian Passport plus BRP or do we now have to get his British passport before travelling? How long does it take to get the certificate for British citizenship after receiving the 1st email.
Very confused , so any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

Yeah, you can still travel. If you do receive the cert, you would be requested to cut his BRP and send it back.
However, I believe you can still swing that one last trip as that would be in a few days time. Not sure the IO would be fussy about kids when you return. You can always claim that you didn't get the cert before you travelled.

To my knowledge, since your child is now British, his BRP is no longer valid and has to be returned to the HO within five days of receiving the naturalisation certificate. This also means that you can only leave the country when your child gets their first British passport - otherwise they may not be let into the country when you return. Might be helpful to call the HM passport office and inquire further.

Totally incorrect information. The OP has clearly stated they have NOT received the Registration Certificate for the child.
The child can travel and will not be denied entry to the UK.

Apologies, my assumption and explanation was simply on the basis of them having received the registration certificate by the time they are traveling. In our case, we received the registration certificate within a couple of days of receiving the email and we were advised to drop any travel plans until we get our child's first British passport.
