Passport Identity confirmation erro

Hi,
My wife has applied for her first passport UK. Her friend who she has given to confirm identity has entered 12 years instead of 3 years (typed both 1 and 2 instead of 3 ). How many years you have known her ?
How can we get this corrected? Will the passport application be rejected?

That's not a problem to worry about. Her friend wouldn't be contacted.

That's not a problem to worry about. Her friend wouldn't be contacted.
Referees for passport applications are contacted to confirm etc.

Referees for passport applications are contacted to confirm etc.
Probably didn't phrase it well. Contacted to confirm that they know the individual, not contacted to check if it's 3 years or 12 years.
