Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope you all are fine and happy.

I sent my grandson documents i.e Original Birth Certificate and my son original BRP (ILR) through First Class Sign For to Passport Office 7 days ago but the documents not yet reached at Passport Office, the Royal Mail Tracking still showed 'next update you'll see is after we've attempted to deliver to the recipient'.

If documents lost what we do know?

Your kind and helpful reply in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Don't worry. I have been through the same process for my first British passport application. It took 9 days for royal mail to update the tracking.

Give it until Friday. It should be updated.

You'll need to get the duplicate birth certificate issued from the council where the child was born. I am not sure how much it costs or whats the process. If ILR card is lost, then your son needs to apply for the replacement card.

Copies of birth certificates are ordered from the GRO not the council:

You don't know if it is lost!! Please, understand that it takes a couple of weeks for HMPO to update receipt of documents, they receive 100s of applications and most are delivered in one big batch and it takes time to sort and document receipt! Please wait another week.

Thanks madam but the items I sent was First Class Sign For. If delivered to HMPO must be updated Royal Mail Website that tracked items received.

Thats the general understanding that items posted signed for next day will be updated on royal mail tracking straightaway.

Like CR001 mentioned, passport office receives a lot of documents in post.

Give it some time and do not rush.
